New OnLine Security
A higher level level of security for our OnLine customers is now here.  We have added an additional layer of security to our login process.  This additional layer will further strengthen the security of your financial information and help protect you from fraud and identity theft.

This process will identify your security in two ways:

  1. The Bank will identify you.

The Bank will now identify if you are logging in from "your" computer.  As part of the new security features, you will now "register" your computer(s).  You can register as many computers as you like.  This allows us to provide even more protection by knowing only your computer(s) can log into HomeStar OnLine.  So even if your Access ID and password were lost or compromised, your account can still only be accessed from your computer.

  1. You will identify the Bank.

You will now identify the Bank by using an image and pass phrase.  You will know if you are not at the correct login location for the Bank if your unique image and pass phrase are not present.  This helps to prevent phishing by allowing you to be sure that you are logging into HomeStar OnLine, not a fake website.

 

NOTE: Only register personal computers that you frequently use.  You should not register a computer that is available for public use (ie. Internet Cafe, Library, Coffee Shop, etc.)

 

Here is how it works.

The login on the homepage of www.homestarbank.com will change and only your Access ID will be entered.

  • On your first login, you will see a second screen to enter your password, after having entered your Access ID.

  • After entering your password the first time, you will be directed to the security enrollment page.  On this page you will choose your pass phrase and answer three security questions (Challenge questions).  The image is randomly chosen at first.  After enrollment, you will be able to choose a different image.  The pass phrase is simply a word or words that you will see during login to allow you to confirm that this is your correct login screen. 
    The security questions (Challenge questions) will be used if we can't positively identify you or your computer during login.  You will be presented with a Challenge question anytime you are logging into HomeStar OnLine from a computer that has not been registered.

  • After you have set up your security for the first time, you will be able to confirm that you are at the correct HomeStar OnLine site after you enter your Access ID.  You will still enter your Access ID on the homepage of www.homestarbank.com, but the next page will display your unique image and image pass phrase.

IF YOUR UNIQUE IMAGE AND PASS PHRASE IS NOT DISPLAYED, DO NOT LOG IN. 
 
RETURN TO THE WWW.HOMESTARBANK.COM HOMEPAGE AND ENTER YOUR ACCESS ID AGAIN.  IF YOU STILL DO NOT SEE YOUR IMAGE AND PASS PHRASE, DO NOT LOG IN AND CALL THE BANK AT 815.468.2265.

That's it!  You can now easily and more securely log into HomeStar OnLine and access your account 24 hours a day.
